Information and purposes
If you email us, we receive your address, message and any information you include. We use this information to consider and respond to enquiries, assess corrections and maintain necessary editorial records. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running an informative website and handling correspondence. Where information is needed to comply with a legal duty, that duty is the relevant basis.
Loading a website necessarily involves technical connection information, including an IP address. Hosting and security providers may process request information for delivery, troubleshooting and abuse prevention. This information is not collected by the observation-sheet JavaScript.
The observation sheet
The Contact-page tool processes its fields in your browser. It does not submit them to us, save them to localStorage or send them to an analytics service. Copying requires your browser’s clipboard permission where applicable. A downloaded text file remains under your control. Emailing the resulting text is a separate action using your email provider.
Browser storage and tracking
The supplied site scripts store only the browser preference described on our Cookies page. They do not include advertising tags, analytics libraries or third-party embeds. A saved preference does not itself enable optional tracking. Your browser and hosting environment may have separate technical functions.
Recipients, transfers and retention
Email and hosting providers may handle information as necessary to deliver their services. We do not sell personal information. Information may also be disclosed where legally required. Where a service entails an international transfer subject to UK data-protection rules, an applicable adequacy arrangement or other lawful safeguard is required.
Correspondence is retained only while needed to resolve the enquiry, support relevant editorial records or meet legal obligations. Relevance, sensitivity and applicable requirements determine retention; unnecessary material should be deleted. Browser preferences remain until changed or removed through browser storage controls.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. We may need proportionate information to verify a request.
You can raise concerns with us or complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. The site is intended for a general adult readership and does not request children’s personal information.
External websites and updates
External reference sites and your email provider apply their own privacy policies. Review them before sharing information. We may update this notice to reflect changes in processing; the current notice will remain available at this address.
